Dental implants: the answer to replacing a tooth without affecting adjacent teeth

Durable, secure, and aesthetically pleasing, dental implants are an excellent way to replace a missing tooth. If you have periodontal disease or suffer a dental accident, the dentist may be compelled to extract one of your teeth. But that’s no reason to miss out on a full and attractive smile.

At Centre Dentaire Olympique, we want to help you smile with confidence and that’s exactly what our implantology service is for.

Dental implants are essentially titanium screws inserted into the upper or lower jaw with a tooth-shaped prosthesis overtop. This surgical procedure takes place over several sessions under local anaesthesia.

Dental implant placement procedure

The periodontist starts by exposing the bone through a small incision in the gum tissue, then drills a small hole into the bone and places the screw inside. Once the screw has been well threaded, the implant is covered with a small cap and the surgical area is sutured. The sutures are removed after about ten days depending on the speed of healing.

Once the implants have fused with the bone a few months later, a crown is loaded onto the screws to wrap up the procedure and leave you with an attractive smile.

If you have any questions about the dental implant placement, we will be glad to answer them.
